Resumption of competitions

After a brief hiatus caused by the Corona virus we have now been able to resume the club competitions, albeit with a few changes to the local rules to accommodate the various required safety procedures.

The competitions committee have elected to forfeit all of the monthly medals and stablefords in favour of squashing all of the boarded competitions into the remaining summer schedule.

For the first competition it was decided to play the Boxmoor Masters, a medal competition that is also open to former members of the deceased Boxmoor club.  This years winner, in rather unfavourable weather conditions, was Nigel Ford who won on count-back from Ralph Bartlett with 38 points.

The following week saw the return of the popular Tearle Cup.  This competition is unusual in that it is open to both full men and women members.  Of the 35 entries, only three were women, so it was a pleasant surprise to see two of their number finish first and second.  Christine Lewis produced sa fine round of nett 60 to win by a clear three strokes from Irene Crook.  In third place, with the best gross score of 73, was Irene’s son Alex.
