Hillman Cup Win

Chesham & Ley Hill have won their opening game in the 2025 Hillman Cup. Home advantage is always a bonus, but winning at the tight Ley Hill course seems to be particularly difficult for visiting teams.

The latest victims were Temple Artisans, who suffered a 5 1/2 to 1 1/2 mauling at the hands of the Ley Hill side. The prize for the victors was an away tie at either Beaconsfield or Woburn, so there was a keen determination from both sides.

The course was in excellent condition and, with fast running greens, the visitors struggled to settle into a rhythm, and most matches were completed long before the 18th hole.

The results were:
Richard Lewis bt Richard Tyrell 3up
Ian Morris bt Eric Smith 5&4
Ian Burrows bt Lee Jones 4&2
Les Kimber halved with Richard Embleton
Nigel Ford bt Adil Akkus 5&4
Colin Harrison lost to Steve Fecher 3&1
Ian King bt Mark Munden 5&3
