June has been a very busy month for the Ladies section starting with the two-week aggregate Good Luck Cup and Trophy, the first week of which was almost a wash-out and we all got very wet. Congratulations to 18-hole honours board winner Sally Gardner and to 9-hole trophy winner Val Merrett.
The 9-hole team played two home matches and lost to Little Hay (in the driving rain) but won against Wycombe Heights. The 18-hole team also played two matches – away at Huntswood where we lost and at home to Ivinghoe resulting in a draw.
There was a good turnout for the ‘celebration of life’ for Pat Bruton at the end of May and we all send condolences to Annette Roe over Bob’s passing. His funeral is on Thursday 10th July at 1.15pm at the Amersham Crematorium.
On 17th June we celebrated Lady Captain’s Prize Day which happened to coincide with my birthday and was themed ‘Gemini’ so many of our ladies were sporting their finest pearls on the course! We drank pink fizz in the hospitality tent, had nearest the pin, longest drive and putting competitions, ate delicious puddings made by the committee and enjoyed a birthday cake, the surprise delivery of which took me off guard (see picture). Thank you to everyone who helped to make the day such a fabulous success and so much fun.
On Friday 20th June the Lady Captain’s Away Day took us to Batchworth Park GC where 15 of us enjoyed 18-holes of golf followed by a delicious 2-course meal. I will be taking up the results of some of our winners with the Handicaps Secretary !!
