After a two week [course maintenance] break the mens’ competition season resumed with the ‘Captain’s Putter’, a stroke play event over 18 holes. The autumnal weather – particularly the strong winds – made the course play difficult, and that was reflected by the comparatively low scores.
Remarkably there were five players tied on Nett 66: Dave Taylor, Jim Cathcart, Alan Puddephatt, new member Simon Royal and Club Cup winner Ian King. In the end, it came down to count-back, and Dave Taylor prevailed with the best back nine score.
