The much anticipated, and invariably well supported, ‘Lady Captain’s Prize Day’ was held at Chesham and Ley Hill Golf Club last Tuesday in fine conditions, notwithstanding the unfavourable weather forecast! Much to the relief of all participants and, not least, Lady Captain, Irene Crook, who had generously arranged for a gazebo by the ninth green, offering Pimms, Prosecco and snacks to all players.
The 18-holes Stableford Competition ended in a very close finish, Margaret Tattersall winning on count back, after tying on 32 points with Christine Lewis.
This year’s Longest Drive competition, made somewhat more challenging than usual as the Lady Captain decided that all players would tee off using marshmallows rather than golf balls, was won, convincingly, by Val Merrett – who also won ‘Longest Tee Shot with a 1-Iron’, using a real golf ball!
‘Nearest the Pin in 2’ was won by Rosemayre Barry.
The 9-holes Stableford Competition, was won by Sandra Eland on 16 points with Julie Salt runner-up on 11.
The Stableford Competitions were followed by a Pitching Competition, organised for the Club’s Social Members, won by Chris Hickling, and by a challenging Putting Competition won by Anne Cooke taking just 20 strokes, closely followed by Anne Hyde, with 21.
Prizes were presented to the winners by Lady Captain Irene Crook, who thanked all club members and staff who had helped make the day such a happy and memorable occasion.
