Hillman defeat for Ley Hill

Ley Hill slumped to a disappointing defeat in their Hillman Cup match Mill Ride. The home side were much too strong on their long Ascot course and all but two of the matches finished on the 16th hole. Ian Morris was the first out and succumbed to a steady Alastair Jordame 4&2. Richard Lewis started strongly with birdies on the two early holes, but was unable to maintain the lead, and fell to Jim Cowan 4&2.

Ian Burrows was outgunned by the long-hitting Roy Walton and lost 5&4, while Les Kimber managed to salvage a half against Mark Dunn. Colin Harrison made a valiant effort at number five but could not contend with Graham Cowan as he slipped to 4&3 defeat.

Kristian Fromes, making his debut, played outstanding golf to record Ley Hills’ only victory 6&5, and finally Ian King slipped to a 4&3 defeat to Chris Febry.
