Champion of Champions

First contested in 2009, the Champions of Champions is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the calendar.  The competition is open to men or women who have won, or come second, in any competition over the previous year.

In the beginning, the competition offered the coveted first prize of ‘free membership’, however, in recent years, the prize has been diluted to a cash prize of around £200.  Champion of Champions is one of the few ‘one-day’ competitions, and it is usually contested on a Saturday in May.

As of 2025, Justin Higgs is the only player to have won the competition twice, and Anne Cooke is the only female winner.  Anne also posted the lowest nett score to date (nett 60).  The trophy is a nice claret jug which was presented to the club by Pamela Houghton Gomm in 2019.

The current champion is Keith Fletcher, who carded a nett 61 which was almost the lowest winning score in the history of the competition.
