Monday night league - week 4
On a chilly Monday night, twelve teams battled it out on Week 4 of the Monday Night Golf League. There are now no unbeaten teams, and five of those teams are tied on 6 points.
In match 1 the high flying Juniors were outplayed by 1879 Tennis Club. There was another strong performance from Freddie Passingham (18pts) but it wasn’t enough to surpass the Tennis Club where all of their players scored 16 points.
In match 2, Golden Eagle were soundly beaten by Chorleywood, whose top scorer was former Ley Hill member Mervyn Newman (16pts). The Ley Hill Golf Club team produced a strong performance to defeat in-form Bovingdon FC. The husband and wife duo of Matt and Julia Yerrell scores 18 points each to condemn Bovingdon to a 36-50 defeat.
Cricket Club recorded their first win of the season with a 43-39 win over fellow strugglers Berko Driving Range. George Woodley returned a fine 18pts for the Cricketers. Chipperfield Crocs propelled themselves to the top of the league (on points difference) by virtue of a 48-38 win over Harewood Artisans. Danny Truter was their best player with a credible 17pts.
The top scorer on the night was Ley Hill School’s Chris Hewitt (21 pts). He also took the prize fro nearest the pin. Further strong performances from Hamish Watherston and Rich Owens gave the School a comfortable win over the West Herts team.
The longest drive was recorded by Rupert Pilgrim from Harewood Artisans.
