Monday night league - week 10 - FINALS
The Chesham and Ley Hill Golf Club team are the 2025 league champions after convincingly defeating 1879 Tennis Club by 60 points to 49. The Golf Club team were front-runners throughout the course of the league, and in a repeat of the 2017 final, they held their nerve in the final match and were worthy winners of the title and the £500 first prize.
Team captain Alison Webber announced that twelve players had represented the team during the 2025 season, and rather than share the winnings, they had agreed to donate the cash to a local charity.
Twenty-three players — across all squads — took part in a separate Stableford tournament, and the final result couldn’t have been closer. Three players — Zak Smith, Freddie Passingham, and Julia Yerrell — were all tied on 20 points. It was also impossible to separate them through the countback procedure, so the organisers awarded joint first prize to all three!
Nearest-the-pin was won by [two-handicapper] Dave Hutton, and the longest drive in the men’s and ladies’ competitions was won by Jamie Matyus-Flynn and Pam Munday-Cripps, respectively.
After the success of this year’s competition, the organisers are already planning for next year and are inviting applications from other teams who may wish to enter the 2026 league. Teams will require a squad of at least seven golfers, of whom four must be available for each league match. Players do not need an official golf handicap but must be regular golfers with knowledge of the rules and etiquette.
If you are interested in entering a team, message Richard on 07711 866143.
